Maria is an 8-year-old girl living in a small village in Guatemala. Every morning, she wakes up before dawn to help her mother prepare breakfast before walking an hour to reach her school.

Despite the long journey and limited resources, Maria never misses a day of class. Her teachers describe her as one of the brightest and most determined students they've ever taught. She especially loves science classes, where she learns about the human body and how it works.

Maria's dream is to become a doctor so she can return to her village and provide medical care to families who, like hers, cannot afford to travel to the city for healthcare.
